Dream Home or Money Pit!
Hire the wrong home inspector and you won’t know until it is too late! A home is one of the biggest investments you will ever make. It is in your best interest to make sure you know the true condition of the home, and that’s why hiring a qualified and experienced home inspector is so important!
When you go to buy a car, you always get to test drive it, not the case with a home purchase. Some car buyers will take it to be checked out by a qualified mechanic. Consider the Home Inspector as your qualified mechanic for checking out your future home’s condition.
Most homes sold in Ontario today are inspected; unfortunately 80% of the home inspectors appear to be blind, when it comes to knowing what to look for during a home inspection. The reason for this is that by taking a few courses and passing an inspection exam anyone can become a home inspector. There is no requirement that a person has ever been inside a house. What this means is that you, the home buyer, is in many cases is more qualified to perform an inspection on your home than the good old boy inspector with cheap prices and immediate availability. One of the main reasons for a home inspection is to avoid a money pit, so make sure you hire a home inspector that knows what one looks like.
